En Masse

Explore our city’s creative forces in a multi-venue festival

En Masse returns to Bristol in 2022.

This year En Masse are bringing you a big ole banging club night from some of the most sought out DJ’s in the UK via the inimitable Sinai Sound. These artists are true masters of their craft and have time after time made their mark on UK club music.

We are proud to welcome (in running order):

  • I-Sha
  • Batu
  • Josey Rebelle

i-Sha plays out a breadth of selections, which is how we like to start a night. We’ve had our eyes and ears on the Accidental Meetings resident for a while now and have been very impressed.

Batu behind the decks at Trinity Centre has been some of our favourite times on the dance floor (not biased just facts). Fresh off the Opal release and rolling into a summer of festivals including closing Dekmantel, you cannot get better than Batu.

Josey Rebelle has been described as a “genre-bending DJ dominating top-tier dancefloors worldwide”, and we would tend to agree. Which is why we had to book Josey to close out the night on Sinai’s stacks. It’s going to be legendary.

Friday night, the 23rd September, we are back, back, back again at Trinity Centre. It’s one of our favourite venues in the UK, if not for the fact it can hold an ungodly amount of stacks in its halls.

Stryda (Dubkasm) Interview

We caught up with Stryda after his 20 years of Sufferers Choice radio show, were he talks about the power of radio and the importance of SWU FM becoming a full time station.

Yesterday’s launch of SWU FM now up for listen again 🔥🔈📻

That was pretty emotional tbh; considering the year we’ve had and how long we’ve wanted a full time legal music station in the city.
So many listeners – couldn’t get to everyone!
I’m buzzing
Full show airing Wednesday 7-9pm
Was an honour to launch the station

St Pauls Carnival returns in 2018 for its 50th anniversary since the first carnival in 1968. This iconic Bristol event represents the best of Afro-Caribbean culture, as well as the diversity, creativity and vibrancy of its home city, Bristol.

At the heart of carnival is our masquerade procession with highly ornate and colourful costumes and floats from local schools and cultural associations, a stage for professional performers, sound systems in neighbouring streets and a range of stalls selling food from a wide range of cultures.

St Pauls Carnival makes its triumphant return, excitement is reaching fever pitch.

One of the key factors of Saturday’s huge 50th anniversary celebration will be the musical offering, with sound systems and stages playing a major and very loud part in it.

The event itself will run from noon to 10pm, with the procession starting on Wilson Street and finishing at St Paul’s Sports Centre.

In total there will be a whopping 20 different sound systems and stages for people to enjoy on July 7, with each one showcasing a different sound, as well as a few areas designed for children and families.
There will be 10 PA systems and speaker stacks in people’s gardens and on various streets, along with seven stages in parks and open spaces
While carnival has historically featured predominantly Jamaican sounds with a hefty offering of dub and reggae, this year the committee has decided to diversify and add other genres into the mix, which means people can expect to hear a huge array of different sounds including Soca, Salsa, Dancehall and drum & bass, too.
