Twinkle Brothers Onstage At 11.30pm
The Twinkle Brothers formed by Norman (vocal, drums) and Ralston Grant (vocals, rhythm guitar in 1962, are one of the most famous original Jamaican reggae bands. The band expanded with the addition of Eric Barnard (piano), Kyle Hyatt (vocals, percussion) and Albert Green (congos, percussion)
After winning local talent competitions, they became famous for singing in a slick trio style, similar to the Mighty Diamonds.
With an extensive back catalogue of over 60 albums, they have worked with many of the greatest reggae producers including Bunny Lee, Lee Scratch Perry, Sid Bucknor, Phil Pratt and Duke Reid.
In 1975, the Twinkles released their best and most widely known record, Rasta Pon Top, a rasta-infused, roots-heavy demi-masterpiece that included soul and gospel vocal stylings within the deep grooves of reggae bass lines.

To truly experience this legendary band, you need to see them live, as Norman is famous for his energetic performances that deliver an inspiring night of vocal reggae sounds.
This is one band not to miss4fdd5bda058606fbc670e7633ac1057d

Jah Tubbys
Jah Tubbys was established in 1971, they have been playing their sound system and building sound equipment for nearly 45 years. Hosting regular nights around London in the late 70’s and establishing the Jah Tubbys and Y&D record labels by the mid 80’s, Jah Tubbys was a formidable force, playing with some of the biggest sound systems of the time. Nowadays, Jah Tubbys is recognised globally as one of the best sound systems and equipment builders around.
In the mid 80’s Jah Tubbys adopted a young mic man who went by the name of Jasmine Joe aka Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith is better known today as Aba Shanti-I. Aba Shanti-I is regarded one of the UK’s leading sound systems. Jah Tubbys current mic men include Errol Bellot, Dixie Peach, Gregory Fabulous, Prof. Natty and Mackie Banton.

Jah Tubbys World System has featured at Bristol Roots Syndicate before, last time we were blown away by the exceptional music selection and sound quality, so we have invited them back for another meeting of the dub-plates.

Pappa Root Sound System – Bristol
Pappa Roots sound was established in 2004, but the crew are veterans with operator David House also part of one of Bristol’s foundation sounds, Enterprise. Pappa Roots are a true Bristol Sound, and are known as one of the cities cultural defenders, running strictly conscious roots music.
The story of Pappa Roots began back in the 70’s in the hey day of sound systems, with Enterprise Sound, a true foundation sound system of that time and a life blood of reggae music. Sound systems spread a conscious message, to a community, that even if times were hard, you could go and hear the latest news, music and dance at the weekend.
Enterprise sound played against many of the great sounds of that time, Mafia Tone Hifi, Sir Coxsone sound, Fat Man Hifi, Lord Koos and Jah Tubbys, playing them in London at Cubies night club.
Every sound system has a unique character, as the choices that were made in their construction, what drivers, speakers, size of boxes affected the sound they produced. The builder of the system would work his magic, until he found his voice, sometimes a reflection of his musical style and personality.
Pappa Roots is the voice of David House, his history of the sound is deep sound system, and at its heart is the voice of the people and their roots

The atmosphere there was amazing, everyone is jumping up and down. couldn’t really ask for more,
Netsky was intensely sick and hyped.
never imagined anything so disgustingly sweaty could be so ridiculously enjoyable.
