Sister Nancy & Legal Shot Sound

Sister Nancy & Legal Shot Sound

Jamaican dancehall DJ and singer

The original Sister Nancy aka Mumma Nancy is, without a doubt, the first solo female deejay to record hits in the studio and has been a formidable female voice on the Dance Hall scene for over two decades.

Sister Nancy is renowned for performing ‘inna soundsystem’ style in the streets of Kingston, Jamaica. Everyone knows her dancehall classics ‘Bam Bam’ and ‘One Two’ all performed in her original ‘ragga muffin style’.

Sister Nancy will head up Trinity backed by ‘rub a dub’ artist Legal Shot.

Black Roots Live

Black Roots

Legendary roots reggae band

Formed in 1979, Black Roots exploded onto the Roots Reggae scene in 1981 and continued to make large waves in the music scene till the early 90’s. But all went quiet for the band after this and they seemed to slide off the ends of the earth with nothing happening for over 10 years. Their rebirth was engineered in 2004 and the soldiers for poverty and righteousness arose from the ashes to drop 4 new albums ‘On the ground’, ‘Ghetto Feel’, ‘Son of Man’ and ‘Take it’. Their newest release was in 2021 ‘Take it Easy’. They are once again performing delivering their conscious and uncompromising messages with harmonic vocals, backed by their unique deep melodic roots reggae rhythm.

Abstract Orchestra Play MF DOOM

A dark and brooding interpretation of the masked VILLAIN’s finest work

Abstract Orchestra return with their MF DOOM set, focusing on the work of DOOM and collaborations such as MF DOOM and Madlib (MADVILLAIN).

Making some of the most exciting music in hip hop, Abstract Orchestra blend jazz orchestration with hip hop beats and MCs. The 18 piece, all star, big band create music that is both heavy and beautiful, pushing the boundaries of live hip hop. Abstract Orchestra explore original samples used in hip hop joints, orchestrated across the ensemble, masterfully reinterpreting the music of hip hop greats, such as J Dilla and MADVILLAIN.  The group have toured and recorded with the likes of MF DOOM, Slum Village, and Illa J and supported Yasiin Bey, Talib Kweli, and The Zulu Nation.

Taking influences from Quincy Jones, Lalo Schifrin, and David Shire, the arranger, Rob Mitchell sits somewhere between Madlib and Quincy Jones. With classic aspects of big band writing, a focus on improvisation, and mad respect for hip hop, this set is high-energy and high-octane head nods from start to finish.

Teachings In Dub – 25 years of Dubkasm

Teachings In Dub

25 years of Dubkasm

The mighty Dubkasm celebrate 25 years in dub!

They’ve called in some huge special guests (to be announced very soon) as well insisting the event be powered by 10 scoops of Firmly Rooted Soundsystem – this will be a heavyweight session to remember!

Dubkasm are comprised of childhood friends Digistep and DJ Stryda, who kicked off their dub project in the mid-’90s before going on to launch their Sufferah’s Choice label in 2003 in order to showcase their studio productions. Their 2009 debut album ‘Transform I’ was a culmination of their work so far, collecting tracks from their previous 12-inches and including vocal turns from Dub Judah, Levi Roots and Afrikan Simba. A dub version of the entire record along with a remix CD completed the Transform I Trilogy in 2010.

Stryda (Dubkasm) Interview SWU FM

Stryda (Dubkasm) Interview

We caught up with Stryda after his 20 years of Sufferers Choice radio show, were he talks about the power of radio and the importance of SWU FM becoming a full time station.

Yesterday’s launch of SWU FM now up for listen again 🔥🔈📻

That was pretty emotional tbh; considering the year we’ve had and how long we’ve wanted a full time legal music station in the city.
So many listeners – couldn’t get to everyone!
I’m buzzing
Full show airing Wednesday 7-9pm
Was an honour to launch the station

Father Funk’s Church of Love

Father Funk’s Church of Love

Fourth Birthday Tour

Event date and time: Feb 15th 10pm

The Church of Love is celebrating its FOURTH BIRTHDAY. What better way to celebrate it than with two wicked parties in two of the best cities on the planet – London and Bristol!

For the Bristol date the congregation will be returning to the Trinity for another biblical bash featuring some of Church Of Love’s all time favourite acts…

Oh My God! It’s The Church (DJ Set)
If you haven’t heard of Oh My God! It’s The Church then you’re in for a treat. A church service like no other – they are one of the most fun live acts on the UK festival circuit. Catch them playing a rare DJ set at the Church of Love, it’s quite literally a match made in heaven!

Hippo Sound System
DJ Hiphoppapotamus’ live band “Hippo Sound System” is another of the best live acts in the scene right now. Featuring a menagerie of talented musicians that bring the Hippos tropical flavoured riddims to life, Hippo Sound System always bring the sunshine to the dance floor.

Father Funk
The Church of Love’s own Father Funk has his own special recipe for rocking the party. Big bass lines, more exclusive remixes than you can shake a stick at, and a wealth of different flavours of fun and funky bass music, from Bass House to Drum & Bass.

X-Ray Ted
Red Bull 3Style finalist, Bristol boy and Church of Love resident X-Ray Ted is another one of our favourite party starters! He just got through to the finals of Red Bull 3Style AND recently supported Fatboy Slim (on a boat no less). His DJ sets include some slick turntablism, next level combos and plenty of original productions.

Mr Stabalina
If there was ever a time to use the phrase “one to watch” – it’s when referring to Mr Stabalina. Although he is relatively new to the scene Mr Stabalina is already absolutely smashing it. Expect some ridiculous mashups, a stupid amount of samples, and a extremely large helping of funk.

Bear Twists b2b MBB
Two of Bristols finest Bear Twists and Mista Bare Breeze team up for a b2b for the history books! Expect the unexpected.

Rose Rokoko’s Sleazy Sisters
It wouldn’t be the Church of Love without the Sleazy Sisters! These debaucherous deities are always the life of the party – here to repent your sins and dance all over your bass bins!
