Beesting Presents

When 19/07/2014
from 19:00 to 23:00

Beesting Events proudly presents: Beesting Vintage High Tea.

We will be transforming the magnificent Trinity Arts Centre into a beautiful summer picnic scene as the perfect backdrop for our lavish, luxury high tea.

PERFORMERS: Headlining we have the amazing Missy Malone – we also have the extraordinary talents of the gorgeous Poppy Raine, Tuesday Laveau, Valeska Faye, Oh Carolina and Ana Kiss. Beesting’s resident compere, Poppy Von Tarte will be our glamourous host, assisted by our stage kitten, the inimitable Ivana Van Der Fluff.

THE FOOD: A twist on the traditional high tea – created by our talented chef, Brendan Baker, who has worked at some of the South West’s most prestigious hotels and restaurants, will be moonlighting from his main role at River Cottage for the evening. All food will be directly and locally sourced from our contacts at farms, allotments and growing projects around East Bristol. Delicate finger sandwiches with sensational fillings – to include our very own home-smoked meats and the best local cheeses; sumptuous, lovingly-made miniature cakes and scones with clotted cream and a selection of jams.

THE MUSIC: The Cat’s Pyjamas, a truly incredible 1940s doo-wop vocal trio will be singing for their supper, and an electro-swing soundtrack will see the night through.

EXTRAS: We will have a selection of stalls selling everything from art to clothing. We will be running our regular raffle, to raise funds for St Werburghs Community Centre, helping them to provide free cooking, gardening and computer lessons for people living in the deprived areas of Bristol.

A right bag of kooky weirdness. The work of New England’s Merrill Garbus, it’s all jarring guitars, African yodelling and clanking great drums. It sounds like it should be a horrible mess but her tribal post punk is actually terribly compelling.

The Polyphonic Spree is a self-described “choral symphonic rock” group from the Dallas, Texas area. The band generally consists of a 10-person choir, a pair of keyboardists, as well as a percussionist, drummer, bassist, guitarist, flautist, trumpeter, trombonist, violinist/violist, harpist, French horn player, a pedal steel player, theremin player, and an electronic effects person. Individual members and the number of musicians vary because of the flexibility necessary in travelling with such a large band. Tim DeLaughter is musical director and contributes lead vocals, as well as keyboards, guitar, and percussion.

Awolnation

Live Nation Presents American electronic rock band

When 26/05/2014
from 19:00 to 23:30

AWOLNATION

Awolnation is the American electronic rock outfit fronted by Aaron Bruno. Awolnation originates from a high school nickname, as Aaron would often leave without saying goodbye, therefore going “Awol”. 2011’s debut album, ‘Megalithic Symphony, referenced an array of genres, featuring a heady blend of electronica and infectious hooks amalgamating into a supersonic aural montage for the senses. An eclectic collection, “ranging from punk to electronica to pop to hip-hop to good old-fashioned angry music” – Absolutepunk.net. The album has since been given the deluxe reissue treatment, adding extra tracks, B-sides and remixes including ‘Some Kind Of Joke’, as featured on the soundtrack of Iron Man 3.
